Book

If you feel called to write or typeset a book, then this is your chapter. Here you will learn the basics of book creation quickly and easily. You will not learn here how to write a book. Furthermore, we will not reveal who the murderer is and if the nurse will marry the Earl at the end.

In this chapter we assume that your book content already exists as a raw text document. Here are some important rules for importing book content successfully and typesetting a book quickly:

  1. Don't hyphenate manually!
  2. Don't end lines within a paragraph by using the [Return] key or by any other means. Simply keep on writing until the end of the paragraph.
  3. End paragraphs only with a single [Return].
  4. Avoid emphases in the raw text.

[This list is guaranteed to be incomplete.]

When you typeset a book, you will have to do some work that is essentially the same for all books. We will describe these steps in detail in the following sections. When you have worked through these sections, your book should be almost ready for press. You will then be able to transfer all the steps of the procedure to any other multipage document, for example, a magazine, journal, degree dissertation, or thesis.
