Magnifier / Zoom

You will not always be able and see every detail in a document (in say, a whole page view). Therefore, the magnifier is one of the most important tools in order to view and edit smaller object details on the screen.

Select the magnifier and draw an imaginery frame in the document which represents the part of the document that you would like to see zoomed. The document zoom view will be updated immediately. The maximum zoom in iCalamus is 10,000% at the moment.

A double-click on the zoom tool in the Toolbox panel resets the current zoom to 100%.

Tip: In zoom mode, the mouse cursor basically shows a magnifier with a tiny plus symbol which indicates that you will zoom into the document. This means that you will enlarge the view (and shrink the visible document area at the same time). If you want to zoom out of the document, press the [Option] key and click with the magnifier into the document. The new zoom view of the document will then be half the current value, e.g. from 10,000% back to 5,000%.

Hint: Use the scroll wheel if you want to scroll to the current selection in the document. See Scroll wheel actions in the Keyboard Shortcuts section of the apppendix.

Hint: In the General Preferences pane of iCalamus, you can define the Zoom In/Out Step Width which is 100% by default.
