Use the Numbering inspector to define how numbering text fields which are used in iCalamus, should be formatted.
The Numbering inspector offers a list of numbering styles. By default one numbering style named 'Default' is available. Click on the [+] button at the lower left corner of the Numbering inspector to create more numbering styles. Selected numbering styles can be removed with a click on the [–] button.
Currently iCalamus supports the page number text field only, which you can insert in a text frame, as described in section [Insert text field] of chapter [Text edit mode context menu].
With a double-click on its name in a list, you open the parameter dialog where you can rename the numbering style and adjust its parameters.
The dialog explains itself – almost. You can define number formats in 6 levels by clicking on one of the number format entries in the 'Format' list. A menu opens where you can choose the desired number format.
Use the edit fields 'Prefix', 'Separator' and 'Postfix' to create rather complex number formats from a simple number. The content of the 'Separator' field will be inserted between numbers of different levels. (As the current version of iCalamus only supports page numbers with only one level, the separator has currentl no function.)
If you want to redesign the appearance of a number text field in your text, there are two options. Either you change the used numbering style directly which will update all number text fields in your text automatically which use this style.
Or you mark a number text field in the text frame and choose the desired numbering style in the Numbering inspector. The number text field will then be automatically formatted using the new numbering style.
