Configure PDF output for printshops

In the Print dialog, you find the menu item Save as PDF in the [PDF] button popup menu. It is the ideal way to output the iCalamus document into a high-quality PDF file which also suits best for offset print.

Using this command, all fonts will be embedded into the PDF file. The images used in the document will be embedded in their original size into the PDF file – even if they were placed in a smaller scale in the document. The output quality of images is 100% of the original image source file.

Important: If you pass a PDF file created from iCalamus to your print service provider, please inform them that the PDF document has version 1.4. This is important because transparencies in the document (reduced opacity, shadows, etc.) will be kept as of PDF 1.4. (Lower versions of PDF don't keep transparencies but flatten them with the relevant background objects.) For your printshop, this information is fundamentally important.

If a print service provider cannot handle PDF 1.4 (which only rarely happens today), they no longer support the technical standards and do not deserve handling your important print jobs.
