Ligature

Ligatures are esthetically melded glyphs of characters which help reading text much easier. There are many well-known and usual ligatures in Latin languages like the ß (from ſ+s in German) or the æ (from a+e in Danish).

But there are more ligatures, which are not commonly used and not provided in any font face on your computer.

Use Default

Usually, all fonts which support selectable ligatures, will provide a list of default ligatures. Use this function to only apply these default ligatures to the selected text.

Note the different f and the first i in this example, where ffi is the ligature.

Use None

If you do not want any ligatures at all, use this function. In this example, you see two identical f and i characters.

Use All

Sometimes the list of default ligatures differs from the complete list of ligatures provided by a font face. Then you can even get more ligatures by using this function.
